Is there anything I shouldn't mention in my profile?
To ensure professionalism, consistency, and safety across our platform, there are certain things you must not include in your tutor profile. Please follow these guidelines carefully.
Unverified reviews
In your profile, please only mention reviews that have taken place on our platform (the ones you can see at the bottom of your profile). You cannot mention any other reviews you may have received on other platforms whilst tutoring as we are unable to verify these.
Unverified statistics
Please avoid adding any statistics that cannot be independently verified by our platform. This includes claims such as:
“I have over 50 five-star reviews on another tutoring site.”
“I have taught over 2,000 hours across multiple platforms.”
“95% of my students get grade 8 or 9.”
These kinds of statements may be inaccurate, unverifiable, or misleading, so they should not appear on your profile.
Subjects you aren’t listed as tutoring
You cannot advertise to teach subjects you aren’t listed as tutoring. During the interview stages of the application process, our team decides on each subject, level, and exam board we think you’d be great at tutoring.
Therefore, all the subjects you can teach on our platform should already be listed on your profile. If you’d like to request to teach new subjects, you can find out how here.
Free trial lessons or guarantees
We do not offer free trial lessons or guarantees of any kind. Students (or billpayers) must pay your full rate for every lesson.
We believe tutors should be fairly compensated for their time and expertise, just as they would be in any other professional service. Please do not advertise free trials, discounted first lessons, or guaranteed results.
Group lessons
PMT Education does not currently offer group lessons to students. All tuition must take place on a one-to-one basis, therefore you cannot offer this to clients.
Unprofessional photographs
Your profile photo must be appropriate, professional, and suitable for an educational setting. Please do not use:
Casual or social photos (e.g., nights out, parties)
Images with filters, props, or other people
Low-quality or unclear pictures
A clean, professional headshot helps clients feel confident in choosing you.
