How does the application process work?
Thinking of applying to PMT Education? Great! Here's what to expect from start to finish:
Step 1: Fill in your application form
Start by creating an account here and completing our online application form. Parts of this form will become your tuition profile if you're successful, so take the time to write clearly, professionally and in full sentences. We recommend having your documents ready before you begin.
Documents you will need pictures of:
Proof of ID - Either a passport, driving license or a national identity card.
Proof of qualifications - A degree certificate, as well as any certificates that verify teaching qualifications or examiner experience if applicable. If you are an undergraduate, you will need to provide proof of enrolment and of your A Level grades.
Enhanced DBS certificate - Tutors on our platform are required to have an enhanced DBS certificate that was issued within the last two years or to be subscribed to the DBS Update Service. You can read more about our DBS policy here. You don’t need to have one in place to apply.
You’ll be asked to tell us about the following:
Personal Details, ID & Qualifications - We’ll begin by asking for some basic personal information, proof of identity and details about your academic qualifications. This helps us confirm your background and ensures you meet our subject and safeguarding requirements.
Subjects You Tutor & Hourly Rate - You’ll choose the subjects and levels you’d like to tutor and set your hourly rate (at a minimum of £20 per hour).
Profile Picture & Your Profile - Your profile is visible to students and parents so it’s worth investing time here to make a great first impression. You’ll upload a clear photo and write a description about your tutoring/ teaching experience, approach and what makes you a great tutor.
References - We require the email address of two references who can speak to your suitability as a tutor- ideally former employers, teachers, university lecturers or colleagues.
Enhanced DBS Check - To maintain a safe tutoring environment, we require all tutors to have an Enhanced DBS check. If you already have one that’s registered with the DBS Update Service, you can simply enter the details for verification. If not, you can apply for one through us - the process usually takes up to 14 working days and will cost £65.50. Step 2: Attend an online interview
If we're impressed with your application, we’ll invite you to an online interview.
As part of this, we’ll ask you to tutor us for around 15–20 minutes. We’ll ask you to:
Help us understand a topic we’ve been struggling with
Walk us through an exam-style question we couldn’t quite get right
You don’t need to prepare anything specific- we just want to see how you explain concepts and interact with a student in a realistic scenario.
Step 3: What happens next
After your interview, we’ll decide whether you’re a good match for the platform.
If we think you are, we’ll welcome you to PMT Education and explain the final steps to complete before your tutor profile goes live.
