Why am I being asked for a password when trying to annotate Predicted Papers?
Why do we password-protect our files?
Our Predicted Papers are password-protected to help prevent misuse and unauthorised redistribution of our resources.
Some PDF apps treat annotating a document as “editing” the file itself. Because of this, certain apps may ask for a password before allowing you to write on or highlight the PDF.
However, many annotation tools work without any issue because they treat annotations as a separate 'layer' on top of the document rather than editing the original PDF directly.
We appreciate this can be frustrating, but the password protection is necessary to help protect our resources.
What should I do if I can’t annotate the PDF?
If one app asks for a password, we’d recommend trying a different PDF viewer or annotation tool instead.
The following are known to work well with our files:
Google Chrome’s built-in PDF viewer
Drawboard PDF
Notability (iPad app)
Some other PDF editors and web annotators may still request a password, depending on how they handle annotations.
