What should my hourly rate be?
As a tutor on our platform, you set your own hourly rate. This should reflect your academic background, tutoring experience, and the subject and level you’re teaching.
We recommend browsing our tutor search results to get a sense of what others with similar profiles are charging. Just keep in mind that many tutors have built their profiles—and gradually increased their rates—over time. If you're new to the platform, you won’t yet have a track record of reviews or repeat students, so setting a more competitive rate to begin with can help you attract your first bookings.
Here are some example rates to use as a rough guide:

When to change your rate
You might want adjust your rate if:
You're consistently fully booked or receiving more enquiries than you can handle - it may be time to raise it.
You’re struggling to get bookings or want to stay competitive during quieter times – consider lowering it
You can update your hourly rate at any time, find out how here.
Increasing your rate?
If you're planning to increase it, we recommend doing so at the end of the academic year where possible—and always giving your existing clients plenty of notice.
If you decide to increase your rate mid-year, we recommend using our Custom Rate Feature to keep current students on their existing rate, while charging new students the higher one.
