How can I get more bookings?

Edited

If you’d like to receive more bookings, there are several practical ways to do so – from encouraging existing clients to book recurring sessions to improving how your profile appears to potential students.

Encourage regular clients to book recurring lessons

If you already work with students on a regular basis, encouraging them to book recurring lessons can help you secure consistent bookings and reduce gaps in your schedule.

Recurring bookings:

  • Provide more predictable weekly income

  • Reduce the need for repeated follow-ups about booking lessons

  • Help students build a routine and maintain continuity

You can suggest recurring lessons directly from your dashboard. To read detailed instructions on how to do this, see How do bookings work for tutors?

Apply for Opportunities

Opportunities are requests from clients who are looking for a tutor and would prefer a more personalised match, rather than browsing tutor profiles themselves. They submit a request and are matched with suitable tutors.

Any Opportunities you’re eligible for will show up in your Opportunities tab. You'll also receive an email notification if you are opted in to receiving them.

We recommend:

  • Applying to any Opportunities you’re eligible for

  • Messaging the client promptly

You can find out more by reading What are Opportunities?

Optimise your profile

Your tutor profile is the first impression a billpayer or student has of you, so it plays a key role in whether they decide to message you and book.

Make sure your profile:

  • Uses a professional, friendly photo

  • Has a clear, engaging headline to stand out in search results

  • Includes a well-written bio and tutoring style that give a sense of your experience, personality, and teaching approach

  • Shows available slots in your calendar so clients can book easily

  • Has relevant qualifications approved by us so they appear publicly

Reviews

Reviews are an important part of your profile and help build trust with billpayers and students. Seeing positive feedback from other clients can make parents and students feel more confident booking with you.

Students can leave up to two reviews, so don’t be afraid to ask once you’ve built a good working relationship.

Review your hourly rate

Setting your hourly rate is a balancing act. It needs to be competitive enough to attract bookings, while still reflecting your experience and the income you want to earn.

If you’re not receiving as many enquiries as you’d like – particularly if you’re new to the platform – it may be worth reviewing your rate to check it’s in line with similar tutors.
